The New York City Board of Elections is taking extra precautions during primary voting at poll sites today due to the extreme heat.
They will be distributing fans, supplying water, and coordinating with Emergency Management and utility providers to make sure power stays on at poll sites.
Just days ago, Gov. Kathy Hochul signed new legislation to now allow refreshments to be provided while voters wait in line to vote. This reverses a law that imposed criminal penalties for anyone who provided items of “small value” like food and water.
