The Bronx Mobile Command Center will soon be patrolling the city’s parks as a new initiative aimed to keep Bronx residents safer.
The command center aims to get information in real time while assisting city and state officials faster during emergencies.
The vehicle has scanners, monitors and workspaces for those on patrol, with internet and cellular access. It’s meant to provide staff with support responding to natural disasters and situations such as downed trees during storms.
The vehicle is small enough that it can navigate its way through the tight spaces around the parks.
The Parks Department is looking to get one of these mobile command centers in each borough.
