The New York City Housing Authority and the Mayor's Office have launched a pop-up location Tuesday, making it easier for NYCHA residents to obtain ID cards.
The center at the Sedgwick Houses Community Center in the Bronx will serve as a location where residents can apply for ID cards and is the first of 26 sites across the city.
Officials say the program is designed to help NYCHA recipients prove their residency in New York City.
Before the pop-up sites, residents had to find designated locations such as libraries.
The card connects New Yorkers to city services, programs, and benefits--regardless of immigration status--and is accessible to those who may have difficulty obtaining other forms of ID.
