NYPD: Former Gov. David Paterson and stepson assaulted near Manhattan home

Police say the suspects struck them in the face and body before fleeing the scene on foot.

Former Gov. David Paterson and his stepson were assaulted Friday near their home in Manhattan, according to police.

Authorities say the two “were engaged in a verbal altercation with five unidentified individuals.”

The suspects then struck them in the face and body before fleeing the scene on foot.

Paterson and his stepson were hospitalized in stable condition.
