NYPD detectives identified the man who was fatally shot in Longwood Friday as 49-year-old Nelson Mattocks from Queens.
Mattocks was a New York City Housing Authority employee who was on his break when he was shot, according to community activist and reverend Denis Oswald.
Oswald said there was a vigil in memory of Mattocks on Saturday night in which neighbors, police and anti-violence activists gathered.
The shooting happened near the St. Mary's Houses and a playground.
So far, police have made no arrests and there are no details on suspects.
