Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities say a 25-year-old man parked his 2003 Gray Toyota on the corner of West 23rd Street and Mermaid Avenue to pick up some food.
A 25-year-old female remained in the passenger side of the car asleep. According to police, the suspect entered the car and immediately began to drive off with the woman still in the passenger seat.
He drove the car to the corner of Mount Morris Park West and West 121st Street before running away. The woman and the car were safely recovered.
