Off-duty NYPD detective from New Windsor killed in Palisades Parkway crash

Officials have identified the person that was killed in Friday’s one-car crash on the Palisades Parkway as 45-year-old Charles Cato, an off-duty NYPD detective from New Windsor.
Police say Cato was traveling north when he struck a tree in the mediannear Exit 19. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Details surrounding what led up to the crash were not immediately available.
