An inmate who allegedly tried to escape Rikers Island last week was caught making a second attempt on Sunday.
The deputy commissioner of public information for the Department of Corrections says the detainee climbed a fence around 9 a.m. Officials apprehended him on a roof.
The deputy commissioner says the incident is under investigation and said there would be immediate staff suspensions if warranted.
Back on Thursday, traffic into Rikers had been closed off as authorities searched for the inmate during his first alleged escape attempt.
