A NYPD sergeant killed in the line of duty was honored Wednesday with a street in his name in Parkchester .
The intersection of Saint Raymond's Avenue and Purdy Street is now Sgt. Paul J. Tuozzolo Way, honoring the man who was killed while responding to a home invasion last November.
The name change comes just two days after Huntington officials unveiled the design for a spray park also named in honor of Tuozzolo.
The park will be located in Elwood Park, near the Tuozzolo family home.
Tuozzolo’s widow, Lisa, says her life has completely shifted in the months she has spent without her husband.
"My focus has evolved in life," says Lisa Tuozzolo. "My new focus as I pick up the pieces of my life are to ensure the well-being and proper development of my two young sons, and to keep the memory of my husband and their father in the minds and hearts of everyone gathered here and around the nation."
Nearly 100 city officials, NYPD officials and Tuozzolo's family and friends attended the dedication ceremony.
Tuozzolo spent 10 of his 19 years on the force at the 43rd Precinct in Soundview. He was a dedicated husband and father of two, and he was known as an avid fisherman in his spare time.
