A man has died after being struck by two cars on Pelham Parkway Wednesday, according to police.
Police tell News 12 that the 39-year-old man was crossing the street around 9 p.m. near Holland Avenue when he was struck multiple times.
Police say Baleriano Mondragon Trinidad was walking outside of the crosswalk of Pelham Parkway when he was hit. News 12 is told he lived just a few blocks away.
Detectives say the 17-year-old driver of a 2012 Infiniti stayed at the scene but told highway patrol officers that another car struck the victim as he was laying on the ground.
First responders rushed Mondragon Trinidad to a nearby hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead.
The NYPD reports that since Jan. 1 there has been 22 pedestrians killed citywide.
