Repairs, upgrades and renovations are coming to select NYCHA buildings in the Bronx thanks to a new deal worth nearly $129 million.
This announcement builds on the more than $2 billion allocated in 2022 to renovate over 8,500 apartments across 17 developments.
NYCHA and resident leaders selected Beacon Communities LLC, Kalel Holdings and MBD Community Housing Corporation to make up the new Permanent Affordability Commitment Together program.
The PACT team will deliver $128.5 million in comprehensive apartment repairs and upgrades, building renovations and landscaping improvements to three NYCHA campuses.
A total of 952 apartments in the northeast Bronx will be renovated, including the Boston Secor Houses, Boston Road Plaza and Middletown Road.
Construction is set to start in 2024 for those three select projects.
Some families in other buildings told News 12 they are concerned why these three buildings are getting fixed but not theirs, which desperately need help.
"Every time I come visit my mom, the elevators are always broken and people have to just walk up the stairs,” said a resident. "Everybody needs help. We need help in the Bronx. You need to come make sure we’re good over here.”
