Residents on Bay Shore Avenue in Pelham Bay say they've seen their fair share of waste dumped along the side of the road, but the latest occurrence has sent them over the edge.
Residents say they first noticed a few tires on the side of the road on Thursday. There were much more by Friday morning, and some had spilled onto the street. Even more were thrown to the bottom of a ravine.
A "no dumping" sign can be seen just feet away from the tires.
On Friday, a representative from state Sen. Jeffrey Klein's office told News 12 that he was going to reach out to the city Department of Sanitation to have the tires removed. Some of the tires were already hauled off by Friday afternoon.
The DSNY says it wants to know if and when residents see any illegal dumping taking place. It says it might even offer a reward.
