Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. Wednesday announced $10 million to revive the neglected Orchard Beach boardwalk pavilion.
Despite the beachfront destination's immense popularity -- Orchard Beach attracted around 1.5 million visitors last year -- the pavilion has been vacant for years after crumbling conditions forced out vendors.
Diaz says the space could host weddings, concerts and other parties.
The money would come from Diaz's own capital budget, but he says the move has the support of other lawmakers.
The Parks Department says it's eager to continue talks with elected officials on the restoration project.
