An Easton filmmaker gave a firsthand look at the beauty of nature this Earth Day.
Sacred Heart University alum and award-winning filmmaker Tomas Koeck has captured some amazing moments in the wild in his latest documentary. It debuts at the Sacred Heart University Community Theater Tuesday night.
"This project is in many ways a love letter to our natural world," said Koeck. "Flyway of Life" is a documentary about bird migration. Koeck got this project off the ground.
"This has been a 2 1/2-year project, about $250,000 of funding that we had to get in order to produce this film," said Koeck.
The film explores the extraordinary migratory journeys of North American birds. It shows how birds connect us all to the natural world.
"Being able to share the messages that we were able to capture on film is going to be really important. We've been filming everywhere from the beautiful cloud forests of Costa Rica all the way up to the subarctic in northern Manitoba filming wolves," said Koeck.
The Fairfield Public Library is featuring a 30-piece photography exhibit, a book signing and guest speakers.
