Service workers union rallies against developer
A Bronx service workers union blasted a major developer Thursday who it accuses of underpaying their employees.
The union says some employees of Phipps Houses make as little as $12 an hour.
Phipps recently purchased a lot at 1675 Westchester Ave. and is attempting to have the zoning changed.
The union says a development there would require its workers -- so members rallied to gets Phipps' attention or have the development halted.
A number of workers at the protest currently work for Phipps elsewhere in the city.
