Desiree Decosta's family took to social media to express their grief and utter shock after the Morrisania resident was hit and killed by a truck along Franklin Avenue on Monday.
Community members say all of this happened just a few steps away from Decosta's home.
"Tragic and unfortunate that she went out to get a container of milk and play some lotto numbers and unfortunately…her demise came and that's really sad," said neighbor Herbert Tyler.
