Transportation Alternatives leads second annual Women's Ride

Transportation Alternatives led the second annual Women's Ride on Saturday just in time for Women’s History Month.
Transportation Alternatives says women make up only about one-third of bike riders in New York City, but more than half the population – a difference made even starker in the Bronx, which is home to only 7% of the city's on-street protected bike lane mileage.
City officials, community leaders, and commuters' rode across the South Bronx and Upper Manhattan to address that difference, saying it could change if officials prioritized on-street protected bike lanes.
"When you're talking about women feeling safe, it's really an infrastructure question. How are we designing streets?” said State Assemblymember Amanda Septimo.
After Saturday’s nine-mile bike ride cyclists met in the South Bronx’s St. Mary’s Park to celebrate female and non-binary cyclists.
