Trapped: Elevator outages persist at Stratfield Apartments in Bridgeport

The elevator at the Stratfield apartments on Main Street in Bridgeport continues to leave residents stuck – either in their apartments or in the elevator itself. 
News 12 has reported the elevator outage for years. Now residents are demanding action as the on-again off-again outages continue. 
Residents with disabilities are trapped in their apartments. The stairs are not an option for them. Their only way out of the building is the elevator. 
News 12 has reported the issue to federal investigators. Those investigators have issued fines and abatement letters to the owners, which means the owners will not get their Section 8 payments temporarily. Despite these actions, residents say the outages continue. 
This past week a handful of residents were stuck inside the elevators.
