A property that has been vacant for years will soon be a place for hundreds of residents to call home.
The multistory building at 150 Van Cortlandt Ave. will offer affordable housing, and will have everything from indoor parking to a gym.
The 20,000-square-foot residential building will have 259 units. About half of the apartments will be reserved for low-income residents.
The area used to be the site of a gas station, but it has not been operational for more than two years.
The property was purchased by Westchester-based developer Stagg Group, which bought the land for $6.8 million.
Stagg Group says that in addition to this building, it is working with the city to help reach Mayor Bill de Blasio's goal of 80,000 units of new and affordable housing in New York City.
