Dozens of students from across the East Coast made their way to the Bronx for a competition for the visually impaired.

The New York Institute for Special Education played host to this year's Eastern Athletic Association for the Blind Wrestling and Cheerleading Tournament.

The annual event drew students who are blind or have visual impairments from as far as North Carolina.

Those who were part of the event say it's a great experience for the students.

"I think it means the world to them," says recreation assistant Rosalind Wright. "They get to showcase their skills and they learn new skills and they build confidence out here on the mat and cheerleading."

Students who took part in the event say they enjoy the challenge and will continue to prove that nothing can hold them back.
