Polls are open
across the city for the final day of early voting.
Saturday saw
the biggest turnout for early voters. Citywide – there has already been a total
of 155,630 ballots cast.
Brooklyn has
accounted for 52,000 total votes through Saturday and the Bronx accounted for
over 17,000.
Primary
elections are being held for the next New York City mayor.
The last
mayoral primary in 2017 saw over 400,000 total votes.
Other races
include those for public advocate, comptroller, borough president and City
Council.
This election
also marks the first citywide election to use ranked-choice voting.
Voters can rank their top five candidates. If
nobody gets more than 50% of the first-place votes, the candidate with the
lowest total is eliminated and the next highest ranked candidate from those
ballots gets the vote.
