A family-owned jewelry store in the Bronx has been a staple in Co-op City for 30 years. Even in the pandemic, it's still finding ways to give back.
Studio Jewelers got its name after many customers said they got a studio feeling after wearing custom pieces of bling -- customers that keep coming back for generations.
Millie Clavell runs all the operations in the store and says they've launched their Spread the Love event, giving out gold envelopes with Stop and Shop gift cards ranging from $10-$50 at random.
"You pass it, pay it forward, they may know someone and pay it forward," Clavell said. "Little by little you spread the love ... $10-20 goes a long way for someone who lost their job, have a child. Pick up something for a neighbor and they will appreciate it."
The staff at Studio Jewelers has noticed a new shopping pattern: wedding and engagement ring sales have gone up significantly. More people are getting engaged during the pandemic.
"A lot of people getting married, they are spending a lot of time together. This brought them together," said Qurbe Tirmizi, a diamond appraiser.
