The friend of a woman who was shot to death in her apartment on Grand Concourse Saturday has set up a GoFundMe to raise money to have her buried in the Dominican Republic.

Investigators say 45-year-old Wendy Martinez was shot through the peephole when she went to answer a knock at her door.

Karla Rodriguez, who set up the GoFundMe, says she learned of the death through Martinez's son. Rodriguez says she met Martinez when she was dating Martinez's brother and needed a place to stay.

Martinez was a mother of two sons and worked as a receptionist at NYC Health + Hospitals Lincoln.

Police say no arrests have been made.
