A Bronx couple shed a combined total of 160 pounds after they underwent bariatric surgery.

Latoya and Terrence Martinez both received vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery from NYC health + Hospitals/Jacobi in February.

The procedure involves removing about 70 percent of the stomach and is a method used to help people who are morbidly obese lose weight when other options have failed.

The couple says they have more energy, they feel better and have more time for their kids.

"When I look in the mirror I see big Latoya, but my clothing size dropped six sizes already and I do see a change in my husband right before my eyes," Latoya says.
