The boyfriend of a Washington Heights mother was charged in connection with her murder on Saturday night, according to police and family.
Officers walked Tiliek Thompson, 41, out of the 33rd Precinct in handcuffs as family and friends of slain 27-year-old Lovay Williams watched from behind a barricade.
Police say they found Williams while responding to a wellness check just after 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 6. She was discovered with trauma to her head and neck inside her apartment.
Her 7-year-old daughter was in the West 156th Street apartment when her mother was killed. The child was left behind with her mother's lifeless body.
Six days later, the man Williams' family says subjected the 27-year-old to ongoing domestic violence is behind bars.
Thompson, of Harlem, faces a slew of charges, including murder, three counts of assault, strangulation, criminal obstruction of breathing, child abandonment, two counts of harassment and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
According to the NYPD, Thompson has a history of domestic violence charges and was wanted for separate incidents. He has been behind bars on assault charges twice and was also previously charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance.
