A slew of businesses have been shut down across the Bronx for the illegal sale of cannabis, with the latest happening along Arthur Avenue on Wednesday.
The deli located at 1968 Arthur Ave. is barricaded by a metal pull down door and sealed by signage from the state Office of Cannabis Management. This marks the third shutdown in the last two weeks as the city’s Operation Padlock to Protect is in full swing.
The mayor’s office has teamed up with the OCM and NYC Sheriff’s Office to seize product and shut down business at storefronts selling cannabis illegally. However, not all New Yorkers think this is a good use of resources.
“Leave them alone,” said Bronx resident Markees. “Leave them alone and let them do what they do cause they’re not bothering anybody. Go focus on something else that you need to be focusing on.”
News 12 has reached out to the mayor’s office for more details on the closure and is awaiting a response.
