A Bronx man pleaded guilty Monday in connection to a 2023 shooting of a 5-year-old girl in Williamsbridge.
Authorities said 27-year-old Austin Morrishow pleaded guilty to illegally possessing multiple rounds of ammunition after a felony conviction.
Police say a car engine backfired on June 30, 2023, sending bystanders running and panicking along White Plains Road near East 213th Street.
According to police, Morrishow and 27-year-old Curtis White took cover behind a parked car and fired at least 11 shots then ran off.
One of those shots struck and seriously injured a 5-year-old girl who was sitting in the back seat of a car.
People in nearby businesses said they recall hearing the gunfire.
“I still remember it as yesterday,” said Luna Amhad, who works in a bodega. “A lot of things happened that day. It was a crazy day.”
“It hit me a lot because it was a little girl, and I have kids, too,” said Will Infante, owner of Top Choice Meat Market. “I also drive. It would be very shocking for me if I was driving with my kids, and when I go by the corner, one of my kids is shot. So, it was shocking. It was.”
Morrishow could face up to 15 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for June 25.
White pleaded guilty last month and is also facing up to 15 years in prison. His sentencing is set for May 20.
