A Brooklyn
resident and two-time Purple Heart recipient has spent his life helping
other veterans.
Danny
Friedman, 72, was drafted in 1967 to fight in Vietnam with high hopes, pride
and honor to serve his country. But, after coming back home in 1969, images of
war triggered post-traumatic stress disorder.
Friedman
says he found purpose in helping other veterans deal with their own trauma from
war. He worked for New York as a veteran counselor and the U.S. Department of
Labor in Veteran Affairs.
He says
this Memorial Day, consider reaching out to a veteran and thanking them for
their service.
