The city is increasing its funding for a healthy eating program in the Bronx, offering a $2 voucher for every $5 spent by farmers market shoppers using EBT cards.
It's part of the citywide Health Bucks program, but Councilmembers Vanessa Gibson and Ritchie Torres say they've secured additional funding for the borough. The Bronx has been ranked New York state's unhealthiest county for years.
Farmers markets are held around the city every week, including at McKinley Park. They sell fresh fruits and vegetables, among other goods.
