More than 600 students and their families were treated to a holiday party by New York City Councilman Andy King.

The Bronx Youth Empowerment Program and Riverway Corporation joined to host with the councilman.

The "Sharing is Caring" event has been running for over a decade and features games, face painting and Santa giving out toys to children.

"A whole host of people came to make today a success," King said.

He says the event has grown from 20 people to 600 people after 12 years.

Event planners say the event is aimed at building community and camaraderie among the youth.
