The NYPD is investigating whether Eliot Spitzer, the former governor of New York, choked a woman at a Midtown hotel.
According to published reports, Spitzer allegedly choked the woman, who is in her 20s, inside a suite at the Plaza Hotel on Saturday. The woman may have been trying to break up with Spitzer at the time, according to reports.
There are some reports that the woman slashed her wrists after the incident and was hospitalized. She reportedly declined to file charges when police officers arrived.
A spokesperson for Spitzer said the allegations were false.
Spitzer resigned as governor in 2008 over a prostitution scandal.
