Two Suffolk County volunteer fire departments came together on Saturday to help two local volunteer members in their battle to help improve the life of their newborn son.

The event helped raise money to help Tom and Jackie Moran -- who have served as volunteer firefighters for a combined 40-plus years -- in their medical bills and other support as their 10-month-old son Hudson battles Vacterl Syndrome. It's a rare medical condition that impacts several parts of a person's body.

Hudson and his brother were born 32 weeks prematurely, leaving Hudson currently on oxygen and has undergone two surgeries and many more doctors’ appointments. Currently, Jackie is on leave to take care of her son's numerous medical needs.

“This is amazing," said Jackie Moran. "How the community has been, it's blown us away. How they come together for food for the auction. The two fire departments and committees that run everything amazing.”
