A 46-year-old man was fatally shot in Claremont Wednesday — the first shooting of 2025, a devastating way to ring in the New Year. The shooting happened on 170th Street.

Police say another man was found shot, he was grazed in the chin and is expected to be okay.

The first Bronx shooting of 2025 happened in the area of the 44th Precinct. The year ended with a total of 45 shootings in that area, one more than the year prior. However the precinct with the most shootings in 2024 was the 46th Precinct which had a total of 50 shootings.
