A local theater is remembering Tony Bennett after the iconic singer died at 96 years old.

Bennett graced the stage at the Palace Theatre in Stamford three times in his career, with his most recent performance in 2019, right before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bennett had already been diagnosed with Alzheimer's by his last performance in Stamford.

It demonstrated his love and dedication to the stage and his fans.

News 12 Connecticut spoke to Michael Moran - president and CEO of the Palace Theatre - who witnessed all three of Bennett's at the theater.

He says the last time he was here in 2019, Bennett got a standing ovation after nearly every song.

"It was special, it really was special. It doesn't happen that often, but we had a genuine talent and people just - they didn't have to travel to the city. They were able to come right here to Stamford to see him and they took advantage of the opportunity, and he gave the audience, and the audience gave to him," said Moran.
