9h agoMTA employees and union members marched from Transport Workers Union Local 100 Headquarters to Brooklyn Plaza Wednesday as the agency struggles to find funding to avoid massive layoffs.
MTA officials revealed a "Doomsday" budget during a board meeting if they don't get funding from the federal government.
The employees say the goal of the rally is to show strength in numbers and to unify against what they call mistreatment of the MTA.
They're part of a group called United Voices of NYCT, and say they're rallying for job security, their pay and safety.
MTA officials say the agency needs $12 billion to avoid laying off workers and forcing New Yorkers to wait longer for service.
The agency says it'll be forced to cut nearly 40% of service to subways and buses and about 50% on commuter rails.
A final vote on the budget is expected next month.
