The nonprofit Wuawsu Project recently opened a drop-in center in Wakefield to serve young adults facing homelessness.
The center is located at 4545 White Plains Road. It is open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and offers the community help with immediate needs and long-term needs.
Courtney Smith, service coordinator at the Wuawsu Project Drop-in Center, says they offer free hot meals, showers and clothes along with housing, mental health and job-hunting services.
The center focuses on young adults ages 21-26, however they say everyone in need is welcome. Smith says they hope to help people change and elevate their lives.
