Nursing home workers rallied outside Citadel Nursing Home in Kingsbridge Thursday to call for nursing home reform across the state.
Last week, the state Assembly passed bills to improve transparency and accountability in nursing homes.
While the Senate and Gov. Andrew Cuomo have proposed similar legislation, the union at the Kingsbridge nursing home is calling on them to pass reforms now.
The rally also comes on the heels of a federal investigation into the Cuomo administration's response to the health crisis in nursing homes.
The statewide day of action took place at over 200 nursing homes across the state.
They are asking for quality care for their residents and are calling on the governor and lawmakers to pass the Nursing Home Reform Legislation.
The Invest in Quality Care campaign for systemic nursing home reform started last month.
Workers at the Kingsbridge nursing home say they need more staff, which is a problem they say has worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
