Police are warning residents about thieves who are targeting commuters.
Over the last few days, officers from the 49th Precinct have been out at bus stops warning riders about the crimes and passing out fliers.
They say there has been a surge in pickpocketing thefts on the Bx12 bus line.
Police are warning residents to be alert and aware of surroundings, since thieves target people who seem distracted.
They also say to make sure to carry your wallet in a side pocket, and never in the rear pocket of your pants.
Purses should always be carried close to your body, and iPhones and iPods should be kept out of sight.
Anyone with information on pickpocketing cases is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
