Stay “road ready” in Williamsbridge!

East 221st Street will be closed from Paulding Avenue to Laconia Avenue this month from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. There will be crane operations related to ongoing infrastructure projects at the Lavelle School for the Blind. One part of the project is to renovate the more than 60-year-old boiler system to upgrade heating throughout the whole school.

Leaders at the Lavelle School say the school is also working on the renovation of its community garden including an auditory water feature, accessible picnic tables, and garden beds of different sizes. Food grown and harvested by children in the garden are donated to local food pantries and food banks.

The work will be done the weekends of October 19 and 20 as well as 26 and 27.
