Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy spoke Friday about their decision to re-introduce an assault weapons ban.
The legislation would ban the sale, transfer, manufacture and importation of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
The pair also introduced the Age 21 Act, which would raise the minimum age to purchase assault weapons from 18 to 21, which is the current requirement, for handguns.
Gun safety advocates say these weapons are for war, not hunting or self-defense, and the ban is essential.
