Residents who live on Evergreen and Wheeler avenues in Soundview told News 12 they're frustrated with cars crowding the street and sidewalk.
News 12 witnessed several cars blocking other cars in and cars leaving narrow pathways on the sidewalk for pedestrians. Nearby Story Avenue has a bus lane on both sides, which gives residents little room to find parking.
"It is a two-way street. So people coming from one side, people coming from the other side. So it's kind of collapsed," said one resident talking about Evergreen Avenue.
Another issue is the noise. People said the drivers who are trapped in end up honking their horns until the car blocking them moves. It keeps people up at night.
"If you're trapped then you have to wait for that person to come out, to let you out. Sometimes you can't get to work on time. I hear people out here disturbing us, blowing the horn because they're trapped," said Frank Smith, a Soundview resident.
The Department of Transportation said call 311 to report a double-parked car or a car blocking the sidewalk.
News 12 also reached out to the NYPD, but has not heard back yet.
