A reward is being offered in the case of a bodega worker who was gunned down on Valentine's Day in Mott Haven.
News 12 is told that shots were fired around 6:30 p.m. Friday. The worker, identified as 34-year-old Yehya Allontaser, was killed.
A source tells News 12 that the victim was arrested on Thursday by the Bronx Narcotics Team and was released because of the new bail reform laws. He was shot at work the following day.
Sources tell News 12 that he was shot because of the drugs and money police took when he was arrested.
Now the Yemeni Merchant Association is calling on the NYPD to investigate.
News of Allontaser's left regular customers at the bodega stunned. One described him as a "nice person" who would help out if customers came up short.
Candles have been lit outside the bodega in his memory.
The Yemeni Merchant Association is offering a $10,000 reward in the case, along with a $2,500 reward offered by the NYPD for help in solving the homicide.
