A Bridgeport man faces charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Police say the incident occurred Tuesday morning as the girl walked to school.
Once the girl arrived at school, she informed school officials of what happened.
Following an investigation, Cordero Javier Greaves was taken into custody at his apartment and arrested Tuesday without incident.
His apartment is close to where the incident happened on Railroad and Park Avenues, police said.
Police say they were able to identify Greaves based on his description and his clothing.
Greaves is facing several charges including first-degree sexual assault. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.
Police did not provide information about the victim's condition.
They described the incident Wednesday as a very traumatic and "extremely heinous" based on statements and evidence collected.
Police did not say if the victim was walking alone when the assault happen, but they recommend students walk in groups or on busier streets.
It's not clear if the incident is considered a random attack and it's not known if the victim and Greaves knew each other.
