The number of vacant storefronts on Castle Hill and Westchester avenues in Parkchester is growing as local leaders seek a way to bring life back to the neighborhood.
William Rivera, the district manager of Community Board 9, says he's heard rumors that a private landlord may be considering redeveloping some of the vacant properties.
"It's private property, so we are reaching out to the landlord to have a meeting," Rivera says. "When we do, we can talk about the plans here."
Rivera says the right redevelopment could be good for the area.
