Hundreds of volunteers came to one Bronx school to construct a playground from start to finish in one day.
The Lawrence F. Hickey Center for Child Development, an Eastchester school for children ages 3 through 5 with special needs, had never had a playground.
The construction started Thursday morning, and they were able to finish it by the end of the evening.
They already had a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the playground.
Volunteers along with the organizations Disney and KaBOOM!, assembled, carried and installed brightly colored playground equipment.
"It's just one of those things that you can't imagine it's really going to happen, but it did,” said one volunteer.
Children at that school won't be able to play on the playground just yet. They need to wait about 10 to 14 days before the equipment can be used.
