A major road project on Pelham Parkway in the Bronx has been completed.
The $129 million project included new bus lanes and safety improvements.
Flooding along the parkway used to be a public safety concern, but part of this reconstruction project added new water mains and storm sewers to try and fix the problem.
The Commissioner of NYC Department of Environmental Protection says they have already seen less standing water.
The project started in 2017, there were also upgrades to a dozen bus stops already on the parkway as well as new dedicated bus lanes.
Multiple city agencies were involved, the DEP, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Design and Construction.
This was the second and final phase of the project.
