Authorities have released a photograph of a suspect they believe is responsible for the fatal shooting of a man at the West Indian American Day Parade.
The incident left a 25-year-old man dead, and several others injured.
Five people were shot at around 2:30 p.m. during the parade.
Four people were treated for serious injuries at NYC Health and Hospitals Kings County, and one victim, identified as Denzel Chan, died from his injuries.
Community members have expressed a mix of grief and hope following the release of the suspect's image.
Louis Straker, board chairman of the 67 Precinct Clergy Council Godsquad, emphasized the importance of community involvement.
“We break the culture of remaining silent. If we see something, we have to say something. Nobody is asking you to be a snitch; we’re just asking you to be a lookout," he said.
Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation.
