Today is the last day to get a Real ID before enforcement begins tomorrow, May 7.
You’ll need the ID to fly domestically and enter certain federal facilities. It is important to note that this is optional. You can still drive and vote without a Real ID.
The federally enhanced form of identification will be necessary to fly domestically or enter certain federal buildings. If you don't have one yet, you will need to bring your passport or a form of TSA-approved identification to travel; otherwise, you could face delays, additional screenings, or rejections from traveling.

The Real ID Act was initially rolled out in 2008 but suffered repeated delays due to state implementation challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic.
