The FDNY says it was called to 325 Crescent St. just before 5:30 a.m.
When firefighters got on scene, they say there was heavy fire and that most of the flames appeared to be on the first floor of a two-story home.
News 12 spoke with the man who lives in the home. He says he had just arrived to work when he got the call that his house was on fire.
He says he and his family had a flight scheduled to Mexico later this morning and all of their paperwork and documents were inside of the house.
