The smell of pine is in the air as Mulchfest begins across
New York City.
News 12’s Phil Taitt was in Prospect Park where many
Christmas trees are being chipped by the Parks Department into a nutrient-rich
mulch for people to take home.
Organizers say 5,000 trees were chipped last year in
Prospect Park alone.
Mulchfest continues next weekend as well for those not yet
ready to let go of the holiday season.
